Ok, admit it, you were scrolling through the site, saw this image, and decided you had to click this and see what it is! Well, we don't blame you! That's what we said the first time we saw one.

If you like science, impressing your family and friends with your special coffee skills, or are looking for that unique way to enjoy your fresh 3 Clicks Coffee, then stop your search!

Like the mysterious Bigfoot, this Hand Siphon Coffee Maker traces its roots back to 1830. Although modern technology has introduced the automatic drip machine we all know and love from Base Operations, this beauty really is a work of art.

So, now you can brew 3 cups of delicious 3 Clicks Coffee in a way your Science Teacher would be proud! This Siphon (a.k.a. Vacuum) Coffee Maker is indeed a work of science and even art. Water is added to the lower portion, brought to a boil, and the pressure change due to the temperature difference above and below (I'm looking at you Weather Folks) forces the water up into the brewing container. Once finished and the heat differential switches, the freshly brewed coffee will siphon back below.

Specifications:

Capacity: 3 Cups

Size: 14" x 6" x 5.5"

Includes: Coffeemaker, Alcohol Burner (Denatured Alcohol not included), Wooden Stirring Spoon, and Mesh Filter.

Steps for Use:

Add Water to Siphon Base Vessel

Your water can be preheated or cold, (filtered is best and hot water will speed the process). Pour 15oz of water (if making 3 cups) in to the bottom portion of the siphon brewer, keeping in mind that a ratio of 1tbs of coffee per 5oz of water is an ideal brewing ratio.

Apply Heat to Siphon Base

Place your burner under the bottom siphon bowl. (Denatured Alcohol is required) The wick needs to be tall enough for the flame to touch the bottom glass globe. Fire up your burner and let the water in the bottom globe of the siphon come to a boil.

Add Filter to Top Siphon Section

Insert and attach clean filter into the top glass portion. Ensure the spring catch is attached to the bottom of the siphon, and the mesh filter is flat.

Attach Top and Bottom Siphon Sections

Once the filter is securely attached, insert the top part of the siphon into the bottom globe (which contains water at this stage). Make sure the gasket is sealed; it doesn’t have to be super firm, but make sure you have created a good seal.

Add Coffee to Assembled Siphon

Now watch as the water moves to the top portion of your siphon. Once it does, add your ground coffee (3tbs per 5oz of water used) to the upper portion.

Stir the Coffee

Once you’ve added the coffee, give the mixture a good, controlled stir to fully saturate the grinds. Just a few quick stirs to incorporate the coffee into the hot water.

Time the Brew

Grab your smartphone or look at your watch and start a timer. You want a contact time of 45 seconds (no more than 60 seconds) with this three cup model.

Remove Heat Source

Once your timing has ended, give one more short stir then remove and turn off your burner.

Wait For Coffee To Filter Down

With the removal of heat, steam stops being produced in the lower vessel, and the gasses trapped inside the lower chamber contract creating a vacuum. That vacuum pulls all the liquid from the top chamber through the filter, back into the bottom chamber. (You'll know it's done and worked if you're left with a small rounded mound of spent grounds in the upper portion)

Remove Top Chamber and Serve

At this stage, it’s time to separate the two parts of the brewer. Gently rock the top brewing chamber back and forth until you feel the seal break between it and the bottom globe. Place the upper brewing chamber in the included stand, and pour your coffee out and enjoy! But please be careful, the glass globe is hot and the coffee will be very hot, hotter than most other brewing methods.
